Epsom Salt for Sore Feet After Standing All Day

If your job keeps you on your feet - retail, teaching, nursing, hospitality - sore, throbbing feet by evening are familiar. A warm Epsom salt foot soak is one of the simplest ways to unwind them.

Why standing all day hurts your feet

Hours of standing load the arches, heels and balls of the feet and let fluid pool in tired tissues, leaving feet achy and heavy. Warm water and a few quiet minutes off your feet are half the relief.

An end-of-shift foot soak

  1. Fill a basin with comfortably warm water and add 2-3 tablespoons of Epsom salt per litre.
  2. Sit down, elevate slightly if you can, and soak for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Pat dry and, if you like, massage the soles and moisturise.

An aromatic variant such as Lavender turns it into a proper wind-down. For tired legs as well, see our magnesium spray guide.
